Kevin van Heerden, founder of Availto, is an experienced technology leader with over two decades of building and scaling high-performing engineering teams and platforms across SaaS, analytics, and digital services.
Having held senior roles at companies like Administrate, TravelPerk, GfK, and Expedia, Kevin brings deep expertise in AI, automation, cloud infrastructure, and product engineering. At Availto, he combines his technical depth with a strategic, people-first approach — helping leaders cut through complexity, build clarity, and unlock meaningful value from AI. Kevin’s passion lies in empowering others — guiding individuals and organisations to grow confidently and responsibly in an AI-driven world.
My Story
I wrote my first lines of code on a ZX Spectrum at the age of eight, and that early curiosity sparked a lifelong passion for technology. Since then, I’ve built and led engineering organisations across startups and global enterprises. After founding and selling my own enterprise software company, I went on to hold senior technology leadership roles at Expedia, GfK (NielsenIQ), and TravelPerk — leading multi-million dollar digital transformations and scaling teams and platforms around the world.

Over the years, I’ve seen the evolution of technology firsthand — from on-prem servers to cloud-native platforms, from machine code to Python and low-code tooling, and now to the rise of Vibe coding and Agentic AI. But the recent leap in Generative AI feels different. It’s not just another technical shift — it’s accessible, human-centred, and capable of reshaping how we work, think, and grow. I’ve seen its potential to deliver phenomenal value, but I’ve also seen many organisations struggle to frame the opportunity, build the right strategy, and adapt their culture to truly embrace it.
